The intent of this enhanced BIOS package is for use when flashing same-version to same-version (BIOS 01.02.0001 to BIOS 01.02.0001) or when using Intel(R) Tool Kit (ITK) with production BIOS package BIOS01020001. The enhanced package should only be used AFTER FIRST UPDATING to the standard BIOS01020001_ME030103020_BMC0100r10304_FRUSDR124 firmware package. BIOS01020001_ME030103020_BMC0100r10304_FRUSDR124 package is for use on systems configured with a development (Dxxx labeled) BIOS updating to their first production BIOS with the production public key.

After updating to the standard production package, the enhanced package update MUST be used for the following TWO scenarios:
A) When reflashing systems same-version to same-version. As an example, flashing BIOS 01.02.0001 to BIOS 01.02.0001. This is considered to be a same-version to same-version update.
B) When flashing Intel(R) Tool Kit (ITK) changes over the initial production BIOS package, BIOS 01.02.0001. In this case, the system will treat the BIOS flash as a same-version to
same-version BIOS flash.

When conducting a same-version to same-version flash or when making ITK custom changes, the special production private key signed capsules must be used. The special keys are below:
1. BIOS - PvkSignedCaps\R0001_BIOS_pvk.signed.cap
2. ME - PvkSignedCaps\R0001_ME_pvk.signed.cap
3. FD - PvkSignedCaps\R0001_FD_pvk.signed.cap

The signed cap files will be flashed by running the startup.nsh script in the enhanced BIOS package.

Examples:
1. The user wants to re-flash the existing BIOS 01.02.0001 package (same-version to same-version).
A- Ensure that system starts with BIOS 01.02.0001, then flash the system with the R0001_BIOS_pvk.signed package. Flash the systems by running the startup.nsh file in the R0001_BIOS_pvk.signed package.

2. The user wants to use the Intel Tool Kit (ITK) package to create custom BIOS changes
A- Ensure that system starts with BIOS 01.02.0001, then using the ITK tool, create the custom BIOS by using the BIOS cap file in the R0001_BIOS_pvk.signed package. Flash the systems by running the startup.nsh file in the R0001_BIOS_pvk.signed package.

Note: The enhanced update BIOS package should only be used in the two described scenarios.

If the enhanced package is not used in the above two scenarios, errors will be seen when conducting same-version to same-version (or ITK) BIOS flashes using initial production BIOS release R01.02.0001:

BIOS Update In Progress: Error: The capsule file in the update package is invalid
Error : Error while parsing the cfg file

This special procedure is only required for the initial production BIOS release and will not be required in future production BIOS releases when same-version to same-version
BIOS flashes are necessary. When flashing this package using UEFI method, follow the same update procedures as provided in the standard BIOS System Update Package.
